X-ray imagery is the most common form of medical imaging, and it is also the basis for several other more advanced imaging forms. X-ray equipment works by passing a beam of radiation through the body of the patient in a controlled fashion and picking up the beam on an image generator. Every tissue in the body reacts differently to the radiation, which creates the gradient of tissues in the image. The final result is a still image that gives a fair representation of the internal structure of the patient.
